Hi,
I was wondering. I have an old Trek that I use for commuting, but it has a traditional chainset and I find that when my paniers are loaded down with work stuff, the hills back home are a bit of a struggle. I took the bike into a local shop and asked about getting a lower gearing. They said that a triple chainset would cost more than the bike was worth to fit, so that was the end of that. They didn't mention a compact chainset (i had never heard of one then). I am runnin 27t on the rear block already.
Is it possible to fit a compact chainset -it is only a 7 speed?
Would I need to replace the shifters?
Could you source the parts?
Is this the type of thing that I would learn on the two day course -(which I am very interested in)?
Thanks in advance
Dan
